THE PALMS 89 The exclusive boutique hotel, The Palm, with all the structure and refinement of a five-star resort, emerged after the completion of Casa de Campo when new opportunities were already on the horizon. The market is dynamic, and the number of 384 housing units at the time was no longer sufficient to meet the new demands. To maintain a leadership position in the event market, more apartments were needed. In the meantime, the Royal Palm Plaza had already occupied all the available land in two distinct blocks. The only contiguous space to the resort (marked in light green) was an old building constructed in the 1980s, which had been vacant for years. Thus, it was decided that the new apartments for what would become The Palm would be built in the old building. However, a complete demolition of the building was not an acceptable option for the resort management, due to the environmental impact and t he amount of debris generated. After months of study, the solution was a partial demolition of the building, creating an internal garden and allowing the construction of two blocks of rooms, one external and one internal. The rooms in the internal block would have windows facing the internal garden. The cost of the structural reinforcement required for the partial demolition was practically the same as that of complete demolition and reconstruction, but the partial demolition was chosen due to its lower environmental impact and reduced time and wear and tear during the construction. It was a decision that reflected the resort's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. And so, from what was an inadequate building, the fabulous boutique hotel, The Palm, was born. A decoração é muito charmosa, com um projeto arquitetônico diferenciado, como deve ser um hotel boutique The decoration is very charming, with a distinctive architectural design, as it should be in a boutique hotel
